More listening for citizens and associations

The Council must listen again

Institutions must return to listening to citizens. Many residents and associations report difficulty in engaging with the Council. Viareggio has an enormous wealth of cultural organisations, but these energies are often isolated and insufficiently coordinated.

The proposals

  • Creation of a dedicated desk for associations with regular public meetings
  • A permanent roundtable with cultural and social organisations
  • A single calendar of events, courses and workshops
  • Bureaucratic support for grant applications, event organisation and performances
  • Co-working spaces for professionals, freelancers and startups
  • Monthly meetings between the Council and cultural representatives

How?

  • Building a network among associations and cultural companies to foster collaboration
  • Working on long-term planning that gives continuity to cultural activities
  • Strengthening event communication, making it accessible to peripheral audiences
  • Opening the possibility for national and international festivals to take root
02

More culture and more spaces for creativity

Spaces for youth and creativity

Viareggio suffers a peculiar paradox: on one side, there are many young people, artists and creative groups looking for spaces; on the other, there are unused or barely accessible public venues. As a result, many companies are forced to move to other towns because they cannot afford the rates charged by Teatro Jenco.

The proposals

  • Mapping of public spaces to identify their usability and capacity to host events
  • Agreed-rate agreements for municipal spaces
  • Basic technical services (lighting, sound) for underground performances
  • Dedicated spaces for theatre, music and the arts in general
  • Venues for youth-led projects
  • Artistic residencies with premises to attract artists

The goal

Create a network of spaces dedicated to creativity, where theatre, music and art can develop continuously rather than sporadically. Places where young people can meet, experiment and develop projects, without having to relocate to cheaper towns.

A city for everyone

Art as a social tool

Art is not just culture; it is a powerful tool for social cohesion, inclusion and personal growth. This is why I would like the City of Viareggio to place it at the heart of its community policies.

The proposals

  • Social theatre through companies and associations
  • Artistic workshops accessible to all, with no economic barriers
  • Awareness and training projects in schools
  • An anti-bullying project through the language of art
04

More safety, more awareness and less fear

Prevention and safety

In recent years important anti-bullying laws have been introduced, but it is increasingly clear that intervening "after the fact" is not enough — prevention is essential. Working on education, listening and collaboration with local organisations, also using art as a tool for awareness, will be a priority in my work alongside the Administration.

The proposals

  • Projects in collaboration with schools
  • The A-bu project
  • Collaboration with local anti-violence centres
  • Collaboration with psychologists and educators to develop a shared programme
  • Awareness-raising through art and culture
05

More sport and more spaces for young people

Sport

In recent years it has become increasingly clear that sport is not just physical activity — it is also an educational, social and growth space. It is a place where respect, collaboration and relationship management are learned. This is why it is essential that sport is truly accessible to everyone.

The proposals

  • Renovation of municipal sports facilities (e.g. Vasco Zappelli)
  • School outreach + anti-bullying project "Training in Respect"
  • Support and openness for all sports organisations, without distinction

The vision

Concrete obstacles still exist today: facilities in need of maintenance, spaces not always available, and sports organisations struggling to carry on their activities. I envision a city where sport is an open, inclusive and accessible space, capable of accompanying young people's growth and strengthening the community.
